events.
We formed in Seattle in 2012, under the name MyPad3d, specialising in VR experiences in Construction and Hospitality, with a focus on detailed, tourable visual models. We quickly realised the immense power of VR for designing, informing, and evaluating the Human Experience in order to make better decisions faster and at a lower cost. MyPad3d evolved into MXTreality, then to just MXT today, refocusing on our essence as a “Human Experience Design Company”; as powerful and applicable as immersive technologies are, our focus is on client experience when working with us, user experience of our output, and the specific needs of both clients and users. Then technology.
working with MXT
MXT will work hard to understand you, your business, and your needs, and we bring plenty of real-world experience to the table. Beyond our expertise in live Immersive Technology solutions, we have also worked with a multitude of organisations to form working parties, user groups, and project governance structures to ensure that you and your key stakeholders are all part of the team. We have a very long list of successes and we are happy to introduce you to past clients.

THE TEAM

Toby Pettinger
Managing Director

Toby Pettinger
Managing Director
Toby works closely with our sister company in the US and founded MXTreality here in the UK. For twenty years he led national and multinational service delivery teams spanning IT, Creative Services, Printrooms, Postrooms, and Engineering, with clients including Goldman Sachs, Office Depot, Virgin Atlantic, the Home Office, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Justice, and many others in both the Public and Private sectors.
Fascinated by the “Human/Technology Interface” and the potential for immersive technology to enhance individual development and company capabilities, he originally launched the London office with the goal of introducing Immersive Technology simulation to architects. Over the years, his appreciation for the power of Immersive technology has grown, along with the scope of the company’s capabilities, and the practical applications of the technology. Today, that scope includes helping blue light emergency response training, large scale construction project visualisations, and more.
“Ask any member of the team and any of our clients; they will tell you that the human experience is front and centre of everything that we do both technically and in terms of delivery. I’m proud that our team can always achieve the right solution, technically. What also sets us apart is the way we work with our clients, whether it’s to preserve a World Heritage site, understand behaviour and performance, or save lives. Putting the human experience at the heart of our work enables the best, most appropriate, outcomes enhancing training efficacy, revolutionising communication through experience, mitigating risk, saving time and money.”

Josh Thompson
Programme Manager

Josh Thompson
Programme Manager
Josh graduated from the University of Leicester with a First Class BA in Economics, excelling in Advanced Macroeconomic, Microeconomic Principles and Game Theory. Josh has been with the London office since the beginning and has personally overseen much of our evolution over the past few years, leading projects for Stonehenge World Heritage Site, Mixed Reality Driving Simulator, Empathising with the Customer training, and Animals on the Network training.
Josh is our Programme Manager at MXT overseeing all projects we have ongoing at any one time. He ensures that we work closely with our clients to understand their goals before helping the team to incorporate those directions into a meaningful workflow. More than that, Josh thinks of the things often overlooked; one of his recent plans was so thorough it allowed us to stay on track with a project despite sudden pandemic restrictions.

Vyacheslav Shishkin
Lead 3D Artist

Vyacheslav Shishkin
Lead 3D Artist
Vyacheslav, or Slava to friends and colleagues, is our Lead Artist. He’s responsible for creating our highly detailed immersive virtual environments, assets, and characters. Slava is exceptional in his personal use of 3DS Max, Maya, Unity3D and Unreal Engine, Substance Painter, ZBrush, and Photoshop. His attention to detail and skill in crafting immersive worlds really have to be seen to be believed; from rivet configurations on motorway barriers to graffiti coverage on bridges. He earned a Master’s Degree from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology before spending many years as a professional 3D Artist in the Games Industry.
Slava works closely with the rest of the team, understanding how to get the most from their 3D animations and programming.

Cathal Flynn
Lead Programmer

Cathal Flynn
Lead Programmer
Cathal is a self-motivated programmer and leads our growing development team here at MXT, demonstrating particular expertise with the cross-platform game engine, Unity. They possess a healthy interest in all areas of software development including, Virtual Reality which we’re putting to great use as we continue to develop an immersive warehouse-scale, multi-user VR training environment for one of our clients.
Cathal is responsible for maintaining the internal development infrastructure within our business and mentoring our other developers and has recently completed their BSc (Hons) in Computer Games Programming at University of Derby.

Marco Moroni
Programmer

Marco Moroni
Programmer
Marco is one of our Programmers, a Global Game Jam “Winner”, and an extraordinary problem solver. He has also taught at Edinburgh Napier University (from where he graduated with First Class Honours) and in Zhengzhou, China. Particularly interested in User Interfaces and User Experience he says “Each project of mine must be a joy to look at!”

Stefano Castioni
Senior 3D Artist

Stefano Castioni
Senior 3D Artist
Stefano is one of our resident 3D artists and brings with him more than a decade’s experience of creating immersive virtual worlds. His portfolio, immersive and otherwise, is extraordinary. Stefano’s skills include 3D modelling, sculpting, texturing and shading to create environment-ready assets and, in close collaboration with the rest of our team, the environments themselves.
Stefano is a graduate of Bologna University and spent the formative years of his career working mostly on commercials for large brands including Ferrari.

Ezra Mason
Programmer

Ezra Mason
Programmer
Ezra is part of the Programming team with an exceptional background not just in programming but also in Computational Research, a First Class Honours degree in Physics, and was President of the university Fencing team! Ezra has participated in a number of Game Jams; they recently came second overall from a field of nearly 1900 entries.

Andrea Castegnaro
Data Researcher

Andrea Castegnaro
Data Researcher
Andrea works with us as a Data Researcher. He has a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience, from UCL, as well as a background in Physics and also Game Development. Andrea’s role is fundamental in structuring research, evaluating the credibility of our solutions, and demonstrating the capabilities of Immersive Technology in conducting serious simulation experiments.
With MXT we found that Immersive Technology can be used to train in ways that previously haven’t been possible and to deliver a learning solution that is cost-effective and high impact.
